Running a 5K on Friday? When I had just showed that I can't go further than 3.5 km without gasping for air and having to walk? Jeez, sure, why not.
Actually, there are many reasons why not to do that, "I am not ready" being the most important one. But that really did not make me stand up against my friend's advertising skills ("You are running that with us, right? C'mon it's the cheapest 5K I've ever heard of. And you know, on Sunday I thought that you'd actually run the thing faster than me.") and follow the rules of sanity, no. That's why I am now on the list for my first 5K ever.
Guess what? I am kind of excited. I have gotten tons of advice about the run-walk strategy and been told that there is no shame in walking, ever. Unexpected or not, I am running it. And when I'll be so sore afterwards that I'll not be able to get up from the couch, you'll definitely hear from me.
